I basically expanded on the deadechos.js script (in /sbbs/exec) to show the average number of posts per day and the number of days since the last post in an attempt to gauge activity; the conferences are marked with a "*" if they average more than 5 daily posts AND don't go longer than 10 days without a post (numbers I pulled out of the air). Obviously the Synchronet Data conference has a lot of automated posts, so I might filter that out unless people like seeing it.

Maybe to know if any sub-boards should be removed, if they have no activity for a while? Although for Dove-Net, I've never seen any sub-boards be removed, nor do I feel like that would be necessary.. They all get activity at least occasionally.

Really, the intent is to point where message activity is, rather than where it isn't. But sure, as you say, one could also use the info to help decide whether subs could be removed.

It'll be a monthly post, and with it being the end of the month, the first "formal" one will posted tonight (if all goes well). If people don't like it or get fed up with it, I'll stop posting it.

I'm sure some sysops revel in that sort of stuff.

i can just use my new scan to see new messages.
