  • SSH isn't working on new SBBS install

    Hello everyone,

    Its been a minute since I tried Synchronet.
    Anyway the story quick.

    I was setting up Synchronet using the Unix Install instructions from the wiki, following the git instructions.
    Everything compiles no problem.

    I don't see any errors

    The logs are not telling me anything.

    I can't get SSH to work. Telnet, & RLogin are working fine.
    I turned off the Web, FTP, and email servers.

    Telnet and RLogin bind to the low ports, 23 & 513.

    I've tried making sure all of the dependancies are in place.
    I did have Mystic BBS installed and had its libcrypt.so in /usr/lib and /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu. I have moved them off the path and renamed them.

    That's all that I can think of.

    BTW, I've been deleting the install and reinstalling, as I tried different things to keep a clean environment.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I am running sbbs from systemd with a file that just does a basic start and stop, as well as sets SBBSCTRL.
    I'm running the system from /opt/sbbs/sbbs/ and have SBBSCTRL set to /opt/sbbs/sbbs/ctrl.

    Is there an error message when binding the ports (from the Terminal Server initialization console/log output)?
